Episode 1: Pilot

June 2, 1997

In Sunnydale, CA, The Master is fighting 17 year old Buffy Summers; the fight ends with Buffy face down in a small fountain; her body is still.

In a Western MA hospital, 18 year old Romel Morgan lies in a coma. Her fraternal twin sister Alura walks into Romel's hospital room with flowers. Alura sets the flowers in the vase by the bed on the nightstand. Just as she sits weeping, their parents Malcolm and Shanice walk in. Malcolm demands "Aaron" take off that ridiculous makeup and wig and dress normal. Alura tells him that her name is Alura now; Malcolm laughs telling her that it sounds like a stripper. Alura mutters under her breath it was suppose to be Laura, but the Registrar messed things up. Shanice says "Laura? Like my mother." For a brief second Shanice and Alura bond, but it's broken by Malcolm taking Alura's vase of flowers and throwing them in the trash. Alura leaves and tells them "I will never come back here." She kisses Romel on the forehead, and her eyes glow for a split second. She pulls back and stares at Romel before leaving.

Back in Sunnydale, Buffy's eyes open underwater.

Present Day

In Pheasant Hill, MA, 30-something Connor Reilly walks into the lobby of Pratt Securities. Elderly secretary Mona Walden greets him with a smile as she escorts him into the Conference Room. Around the table are ten seats all but nine filled. He sits in the empty seat as the chair at the head of the table turns around revealing Drusilla "Dru" Pratt. She states that her late husband William "Spike" Pratt would've been proud of what they are doing here. One of the Board Members Bryan O'Toole states "I don't recall you and Spike marrying; besides didn't you two break up?" Dru smiles as she gets up and walks towards him. She states "We were married in every way possible." She pokes her finger into the middle of his chest. The man turns to dust immediately. "Clean this up immediately." Dru tells the tall man standing in the corner. The tall man walks over, wipes the dust off the chair onto the floor, and returns to his place by the door. Dru sits back down at the head of the table and smiles.

At Pheasant Hill High School, the three most popular girls 17 year old head cheerleader Kyla Davis, prom committee member Paige Turner, and permanent third wheel Lacey Sterns stalk down the hall up to their peers. Mazer Faris gets a wedgie from Tanner Dietz. Kyla tells Tanner to knock it off, Paige tells him that's not cool, and Lacey makes sure Mazer is okay. A now nearly 40 year old Alura sees the scene and walks over immediately. She commends the girls for helping and gives them and Mazer a free last period; Tanner gets detention for two days. As she leaves, she drops her pen. Alura is almost at her classroom when she realizes she dropped her pen. Doubling back down the hallway, Alura spies Kyla giving Mazer & Tanner each $20, but she spots her pen on the floor. Principal Colin Davis sneaks up and startles Alura by kissing her neck. She turns around and pushes him. She tells him that they must keep professional appearances. He tells her that she just looked so yummy. She finally tells him that she thinks something is up. Colin replies "What'd my daughter do now?"

In a Western MA hospital, Malcolm and Shanice visit a still comatose Romel. Malcolm replaces the wilted flowers in the vase on the nightstand; meanwhile Shanice brushes Romel's hair. Shanice tells Malcolm that she'll be right back. Out in the hallway, Shanice uses her cell phone to make a call. At her desk, Alura sees "MOM" on her cell phone and doesn't answer. 

In Connor's office, Dru sits in his seat and tells him that she has big plans for Pheasant Hill namely killing the slayer. She tells Connor that there's a very powerful slayer in town. So powerful if the slayer was activated they could destroy them and her ultimate plan: to reopen the East Coast Hellmouth chasm. Connor turns and walks towards the window; he asks Dru to tell him again about his parents. She tells him that her father Angel was seduced by a slayer and committed suicide; his mother Darla sacrificed herself in a battle with another slayer to save him. She lies further stating how she was there to save Connor and put him up for adoption. Dru dabs away tears discussing her good friends Angel and Darla; Connor moves to hug her.

Alura bursts into Colin's office stating that something is not right with Kyla. 

Down the hall Kyla and her friends are about to leave school when Kyla's younger brother Jadon states he wants in on their adventure as he's already been excused by dad because he has a project to work on at home. Kyla allows him to go with her. Paige, Kyla, Jadon, Mazer, and Lacey load up in Kyla's Prius.

Back in Colin's office, Alura reluctantly tells Colin the truth: she's a slayer. Years ago her sister was suppose to be a slayer when a slayer died, but because her sister was in a coma the powers transferred to her. Colin asks what a slayer is; Alura states a slayer have certain abilities normal humans don't. She tells Colin one aspect of being a slayer and sensing imminent danger. Colin sighs and kisses her stating "Finally."

Down the hall, Santiago "Santi" Ramirez walks in with a bouquet of multicolor roses. He walks into the Main Office as Mrs. Kominsky approaches the counter. She asks whom he's here to see; he tells her Alura Morgan. Mrs. Kominsky buzzes Colin's phone; he puts it on speaker. She tells them that a handsome Latino man is looking for Alura. Shocked Alura walks out and stops dead in her tracks when she sees Santi. She tells him to leave, but Santi apologizes for how he reacted. She tells him to leave now, or she will call the police. Santi puts the flowers on the counter and leaves, but gives Colin a knowing look.

Walking around Pratt Securities Mona shows Dru and Connor everything from the Executive Offices, Conference Rooms, and Cafeteria to the Mailroom and Feeding Room. Dru's assistant Chloe Meyers walks up to her and quietly hands her a piece of paper. Dru takes it and smiles. She asks Connor "When was the last time you fed?"

In her classroom, Alura tells Colin to shut the door and lock it. He does as he's told; Alura goes to her closet and unlocks it. Inside are weapons. She grabs a few. Colin asks what's going on; she tells him that she went to Slayer School for a year, but dropped out. She tells Colin that she remembers a few things.

At Crow's Point (a cliff in Pheasant Hill overlooking the Atlantic Ocean), high schoolers of all grades are partying. Drinking. Music. Smoking pot. Kissing. Dancing. Kyla and Paige are passing a joint; while Mazer and Lacey are talking with their legs dangling off the cliff. Jadon wanders to the drinks and tries the punch bowl. Dru and Connor arrive and vamp out. Everyone scatters, Mazer drags Lacey away. Kyla tells Dru and Connor to leave; when Dru backhands Kyla, she goes flying into a tree. She stands up with glowing eyes and howls. Her body contorts, and her clothes rip. She's now a full-on werewolf; Dru is terrified. Connor moves to attack wolf Kyla as Jadon screams "NOOOOOOOOOO!" As he extends his arms a powerful force emits from Jadon's fingers knocking Connor back. Jadon looks at his fingers in awe; Dru grabs Connor and retreats. Alura and Colin show up; Alura asks "What'd I miss?"

In the hospital, Malcolm and Shanice say goodnight to Romel. As they walk down the hall, Romel opens her eyes.
